Founded in 1993, Samatvam (= equanimity) has three core areas: health care, education and research. Currently, we serve through our 3 major facilities: Samatvam – Jayanagar, Samatvam – Indiranagar, and Jnana Sanjeevini Medical and Diabetes Center – JP Nagar, Bangalore, India. Every year we treat around 10000 people in our outpatient clinics, and many more through our community outreach programs.
Diabetes As a specialised Diabetes Center, Samatvam provides state of the art comprehensive health care to those living with diabetes. The Diabetes Center has something to offer everyone, whether you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, or gestational diabetes; have experienced diabetes-related complications including eye, kidney, nerve or vascular disease (heart attack, stroke), foot problems and gangrene etc; or have lifestyle considerations requiring tailored therapy to achieve your long-term goals. The Diabetes Center has a knowledgeable team of providers whose experience caring for and managing diabetes spans over several decades. Diabetologists (specialist physicians with expert training and certification in managing diabetes and its complications) and certified diabetes educators are raising the level of diabetes management throughout the community, providing educational services to patients and their families.
Endocrinology
Endocrinology is the medical discipline dealing with disorders of body's chemistry, hormones etc. Besides the most common endocrine disorder diabetes, medical conditions treated by endocrinologists include: Lipids: cholesterol and blood fat disorders; Obesity: weight management; Thyroid: hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, goiter, thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer; Bone: osteoporosis / osteopenia, hyperparathyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, vitamin D deficiency; Pituitary: pituitary adenoma, galactorrhea, hypopituitarism, diabetes insipidus; Adrenal: adrenal adenoma, hyperadrenalism, hypoadrenalism, steroid use; Gonadal Disease: polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), hirsuitism, hormone related infertility, hypogonadism, Turners Syndrome; others: hypoglycemia etc.
